IN 1950...WICHITA RECORDED IT'S EARLIEST SUB ZERO
TEMPERATURE FOR THE WINTER SEASON WHEN THE MERCURY
DROPPED TO 1 BELOW ZERO.  IN 1989...ARCTIC AIR INVADED
THE NORTHERN PLAINS.  INTERNATIONAL FALLS CHILLED OUT
WITH A LOW OF 9 BELOW.	IN FACT...TEMPERATURES ACROSS
NORTHERN MINNESOTA HOVERED NEAR ZERO THROUGHOUT THE DAY. 
MEANWHILE...A WINTER STORM BURIED PARTS OF SOUTHERN
COLORADO WITH 15 TO 20 INCHES OF SNOW.

IN 1988...THE MORNING LOW IN BISMARK NORTH DAKOTA WAS
36...ELEVEN DEGREES WARMER THAN THE LOW OF 25 DEGREES IN
MERIDIAN MISSISSIPPI.  THAT AFTERNOON SIX CITIES IN THE
NORTH CENTRAL UNITED STATES REPORTED RECORD HIGH
TEMPERATURES FOR DECEMBER 6TH.	THE CITIES WEREN'T
IDENTIFIED.  IN 1970...HIGH WINDS TOPPLED THE NATIONAL
CHRISTMAS TREE AT THE WHITE HOUSE.  NOW THAT'S 'TREE'SON.
