...NWS DAMAGE SURVEY FOR 05/17/2013 YOUNG COUNTY TORNADO EVENT...

UPDATES PATH DETAILS AND CORRECTS THE ORDER OF TORNADOES. AFTER
FURTHER REVIEW...THE SECOND TORNADO WAS THE ONE WHICH PRODUCED
THE DAMAGE TO THE HOME. TO STAY CONSISTENT WITH THE NAMING
CONVENTION BELOW...WE KEPT THE TORNADOES IN THE SAME ORDER BELOW
BUT THE DETAILS HAVE BEEN CHANGED.

A SUPERCELL IN SOUTHERN YOUNG COUNTY PRODUCED TWO TORNADOES NEAR
ELIASVILLE ON THE EVENING OF MAY 17TH. BOTH TORNADOES WERE
REPORTED BY STORM SPOTTERS AND SEVERAL PHOTOS AND VIDEOS OF THE
TORNADOES HAVE BEEN OBTAINED. THE NWS IN FORT WORTH SURVEYED
DAMAGE TO A HOME THAT OCCURRED FROM THE SECOND TORNADO.

THE WIND SPEED FOR TORNADO #1...AS LISTED BELOW...IS SUBJECT TO
CHANGE. ADDITIONAL DATA IS STILL BEING CONSIDERED.

THE NWS SURVEYED DAMAGE TO A HOME APPROXIMATELY 1 MILES WEST OF
ELIASVILLE...JUST SOUTH OF FM 3109 AND WEST OF JD ROAD.
SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE OCCURRED TO THE ROOF OF THE HOME AND ALSO TO
THE BACK PORCH OF THE HOME. THE WALLS OF THE HOME REMAINED IN
TACT. ADDITIONAL DATA IS STILL BEING OBTAINED AND ANALYZED ON THIS
TORNADO AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION WILL BE PROVIDED LATER.

THIS WAS THE FIRST TORNADO IN THE SERIES...AND OCCURRED
APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES NORTHWEST OF ELIASVILLE. THIS TORNADO
OCCURRED OVER OPEN FIELDS AND PRODUCED LITTLE TO NO DAMAGE.

EF SCALE: THE ENHANCED FUJITA SCALE CLASSIFIES TORNADOES INTO THE
FOLLOWING CATEGORIES.
