RATED FROM EF0 TO EF1...

TORNADO 1:

* RATING: EF0

* ESTIMATED PEAK WIND: AROUND 80 MPH

* PATH LENGTH: LESS THAN ONE HALF MILE

* PATH WIDTH: UP TO 100 YARDS MAXIMUM

* FATALITIES/INJURIES: NONE

* ESTIMATED START/END TIMES: TUESDAY AUG 6TH...413 PM CDT TO 414 
PM CDT

* EVENT LOCATION: BEGAN ABOUT 7 MILES WEST OF COLFAX TO ABOUT 6.5 
MILES WEST-SOUTHWEST OF COLFAX. 

* DISCUSSION/DAMAGE: THE TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN NEAR A FARMSTEAD WHERE 
IT WAS VIEWED BY A FARMER WHO WAS THEN APPROACHING THE FARMSTEAD IN 
HIS TRACTOR. THE TORNADO APPEARED TO BECOME QUICKLY ENGULFED IN 
DRIVING RAIN AND HAIL. SWIRLING WINDS BROKE DOWN NUMEROUS LARGE TREE 
BRANCHES WHICH STRUCK AND DENTED THE TRACTOR CAB AND DAMAGED NEARBY 
FARM OUT BUILDINGS. SURROUNDING FARM FIELDS RECEIVED SIGNIFICANT 
DAMAGE FROM WIND DRIVEN LARGE HAIL. 

TORNADO 2:

* RATING: EF1

* ESTIMATED PEAK WIND: AROUND 90 MPH

* PATH LENGTH: ABOUT 3 MILES INTERMITTENTLY

* PATH WIDTH: UP TO 150 YARDS MAXIMUM

* FATALITIES/INJURIES: NONE

* ESTIMATED START/END TIMES: TUESDAY AUG 6TH...426 PM CDT TO 431 
PM CDT

* EVENT LOCATION: BEGAN ABOUT 2.2 MILES SOUTHWEST OF GALCHUTT TO 
ABOUT 3.0 MILES SOUTH OF GALCHUTT. 

* DISCUSSION/DAMAGE: THIS TORNADO TRACKED TO THE SOUTHEAST AND 
SNAPPED SEVERAL TREES DOWN A GROUND LEVEL IN A SERIES OF EAST TO 
WEST ORIENTED SHELTER BELTS. IN PLACES... LARGE TREES AND TREE LIMBS 
WERE THROWN DOZENS OF YARDS INTO SURROUNDING FILEDS. THIS TORNADO 
LIKELY CROSSED INTERSTATE 29 NEAR MILE POST 29... THOUGH IT WAS 
LIKELY PARTIALLY WRAPPED IN HEAVY RAIN AND HAIL ALONG ITS PATH. 
SURROUNDING FARM FIELDS RECEIVED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE FROM WIND DRIVEN 
LARGE HAIL.

EF3...WIND SPEEDS 136 TO 165 MPH.
EF4...WIND SPEEDS 166 TO 200 MPH.
EF5...WIND SPEEDS GREATER THAN 200 MPH.
