Subject: Service Change Notice for multiple river gauges
along the Guadalupe, Blanco, and San Marcos
River basins transitioning from Daily to
			flood-only forecast services

Effective Saturday, May 24, 2025, forecast services for multiple
gauges along the Guadalupe, Blanco, and San Marcos rivers will
transition from daily forecast services to flood-only forecast
services. This service change is in conjuction with local
stakeholders, and the National Weather Service office in New
Braunfels, TX.

The affected sites are:
Guadalupe River at Hunt (HNTT2)
Guadalupe River at Seguin at Highway 123 (SEGT2)
Sandies Creek at Westhoff (WHOT2)
Blanco River at Crabapple Road (BAPT2)
Little Blanco river at Fischer Store Road near Fischer (BFST2)
Blanco River at San Marcos (BSMT2)
San Marcos River at Luling (LLGT2)
Plum Creek at Luling (LULT2)

This change will not affect the issuance of river flood watches or
warnings should a rise to or above Minor Flood Stage be forecast.
This will only affect the day to day issuance of the forecast
during low flows.

Currently, the river forecast is generated accounting for rainfall
that has already occurred, current stream levels, and 24 to 48
hours of forecast rainfall. The forecast is then distributed and
posted to the National Water Prediction Service (NWPS) regardless
if the river is forecast to rise or not.

On May 24th, the river forecast will be generated as normal, but
will not be distributed or posted to the NWPS unless the river is
forecast to rise to or above a threshold (typically Action Stage).
Should the river forecast show the river rising to or above the
Minor Flood Stage, River Flood Watches or Warnings will be issued
as normal.

The data for these forecast points are provided through our
partners, the United States Geological Survey (USGS). Without
this critical data, forecasts and warnings would not be possible
for these locations. You can learn more about these and other
stream gages operated by the USGS by visiting:
