THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHARLESTON SC HAS CONFIRMED AN EF-0
TORNADO NEAR KIAWAH ISLAND IN CHARLESTON COUNTY SOUTH CAROLINA ON
AUGUST 1 2012.

BASED ON EYEWITNESS DESCRIPTIONS...A FUNNEL CLOUD FIRST APPEARED OVER
KIAWAH ISLAND THEN MOVED INTO THE WATERWAY EAST OF THE BRIDGE ON KIAWAH
ISLAND PARKWAY. BASED ON PHOTOGRAPHS AND VIDEO TAKEN...IT APPEARS
THAT THE FUNNEL BRIEFLY TOUCHED DOWN NEAR THE INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY BEFORE
DISSIPATING. THERE HAVE BEEN NO REPORTS OF DAMAGE FROM THIS
TORNADO.
