THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WAKEFIELD VA HAS FINALIZED THE 
TORNADO PATH AND INTENSITY FOR THE ACCOMACK COUNTY VIRGINIA TORNADO 
WHICH OCCURRED LAST SATURDAY AFTERNOON...JULY 14 2012. AN AERIAL 
SURVEY OF THE DAMAGE WAS CONDUCTED BY ACCOMACK EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...AND A GROUND SURVEY WAS PERFORMED BY THE NWS 
TODAY.

A SLOW MOVING EF0 TORNADO...WITH MAXIMUM WIND SPEEDS IN THE 70 TO 75 
MPH RANGE...MADE A SHORT NARROW PATH THROUGH RURAL PORTIONS OF 
ACCOMACK COUNTY...JUST EAST OF ONLEY...BETWEEN 1:08 PM AND 1:13 PM 
LAST SATURDAY AFTERNOON. THE TORNADO FIRST TOUCHED DOWN IN A SMALL 
RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT JUST SOUTHWEST OF THE INTERSECTION OF CUSTIS 
NECK RD. AND DRUMMONDTOWN RD. NUMEROUS TREES WERE DAMAGED OR 
BROUGHT DOWN BY THE TORNADO...WITH ONE TREE FALLING ON AN UNOCCUPIED 
VEHICLE. THE TORNADO THEN CONTINUED SLOWLY SOUTHWEST THROUGH A 
WOODED AREA...WITH THE LAST VISIBLE TREE DAMAGE SEEN JUST SOUTHWEST 
OF ACCOWMACK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
