Rich:
Depiction looks good for the state. What a wild couple of days with more
to come for the next two. The National Weather Service confirmed that a
hail stone that fell in Aurora is the second largest ever recorded in the
U.S. The stone measured 6.5 inches in diameter and 17 3/8 inches in
circumference. Impact craters of 9-12 inches have been documented. One
stone fell through a roof in Aurora creating a hole large enough for a
grown man to crawl through. In Thayer county, Hebron reported 8.43 inches
of rain in a 12 hour period. Unofficial reports of 12-15 inches. This
thunderstorm (the size of Thayer county) stayed almost stationary for 6
hours. I always get leery of the unofficial reports, but don't doubt 10
inches fell. Unfortunately one person died as at least four tornadoes hit
the Deshler area in Thayer county. The states first tornado death in 15
years. Last night another death was reported in northeast Nebraska, as a
tornado struck a farm tractor, flipped it, thus crushing the driver.
