I hope that your summer is going well thus far. It is time again to send out the monthly email! KCCI SchoolNet8 Homepage: http://www.kcci.com/schoolnet8/ Or directly at: http://www.schoolnet8.com SchoolNet8 Notes ================ Thanks to many of you for helping to migrate the TWI Poller application to point at the new collection server. It became necessary for us to find a more sustainable and cost effective solution! Some of you may be wondering if your site has yet to convert? If your site is still pointed at the old collection hub, I'll be in contact with your school to help with the process. In general, there is no immediate rush for this change. Our deadline is sometime in the fall when the old collection hub is discontinued. As always, we continue to need your help turning around repaired sensors. We only have a set number of spare sensors, so when we send one out for repair, we have to wait for the old one to come back for refurbishment. If you have any old/broken sensors at your site, please be sure to send them back to KCCI, so that the repair cycle can continue! :) June Website Stats ================== The attached PDF contains website stats for June 2009. If you have any questions, please let me know. New features for June ===================== The primary new feature this month is a new webcam image viewer. This application continues my effort to make things more snappy and interactive on the website. Again, feedback (even negative) is very much welcome! http://www.schoolnet8.com/camera/ This app has the following new features: * AJAX (web 2.0) based loading of images * Individual sites can be selectively enabled/disabled, this massively cuts down on bandwidth usage if necessary * Application uses a JSON data store that other web developers may find useful. * Images can be sorted by county, name, or identifier. This hopefully fixes a major complaint of the old application. * The top and side panel can be collapsed to allow a more "full screen" appearance. I tested this app on Firefox and IE 5-7, so hopefully it works for you! Well, that is it for this month. Please let me know if you have any suggestions! Development is driven by your needs.
