These products include Severe Thunderstorm and Tornado warnings. The current interface is very clunky and slow! Some folks were rightly complaining about how long it takes for the page to load and how ugly the interface is. So, I tried to do something about it. I rewrote the application and made it nearly 100% AJAX based, with asynchronos content loading. There are some bugs yet, but I wanted to get this out for folks to test with. In general, the content presentation is the same. Once nice addition is the support of very short URLs. This makes including links in emails and whatnot much easier. For example, here is a valid URL: http://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/vtec/2008-O-NEW-KJAX-SV-W-0048.html the previous URLs were 3 times that long :( So play with it and let me know what you think. The Southeast corner of the state was spared for now with their lows only dipping into the mid 30s. This first frost was later than we would expect, which was a good thing for late maturing crops. > NWS Watch/Warning Summary *** Products issued on 16 Oct 2008 Summary +_________ By WFO ____________+ Watches Type US IA | ARX DVN DMX OAX FSD | US Tornado 0 0 | 0 0 0 0 0 | 0 Svr Tstorm 0 0 | 0 0 0 0 0 | 0 Fl Flood 0 0 | 0 0 0 0 0 | N/A ARX = LaCrosse, WI DVN = Davenport, IA DMX = Des Moines, IA OAX = Omaha, NE FSD = Sioux Falls, SD From mesonet at mesonet.agron.iastate.edu Sat Oct 18 11:01:04 2008 From: mesonet at mesonet.agron.iastate.edu (Iowa Mesonet) Date: Sat Oct 18 11:01:08 2008 Subject: IEM Daily Bulletin Message-ID: <200810181601.m9IG14Rm014780@mesonet.agron.iastate.edu> Iowa Environmental Mesonet Daily Bulletin Data valid for 17 October 2008 > News No news is good news > Yesterday's Daily Feature +---------------------------------------------- http://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/onsite/features/cat.php?day=2008-10-17 | Title : Getting below freezing | Date : 17 Oct 06:19 AM | Votes : Good: 22 Bad: 7 +---------------------------------------------- The featured plot is from the Humbolt SchoolNet for Thursday morning showing the flat lining in temperature around freezing before more cooling occurs just before sunrise. You will often see this as special processes occur when water begins to freeze, which releases heat and therefore slows the cooling process some. Having the dew point near 32 degrees gives an indication that frost formation was a necessary process for the temperature to cool below freezing. > NWS Watch/Warning Summary *** Products issued on 17 Oct 2008 Summary +_________ By WFO ____________+ Watches Type US IA | ARX DVN DMX OAX FSD | US Tornado 0 0 | 0 0 0 0 0 | 0 Svr Tstorm 0 0 | 0 0 0 0 0 | 0 Fl Flood 0 0 | 0 0 0 0 0 | N/A ARX = LaCrosse, WI DVN = Davenport, IA DMX = Des Moines, IA OAX = Omaha, NE FSD = Sioux Falls, SD From mesonet at mesonet.agron.iastate.edu Sun Oct 19 11:01:03 2008 From: mesonet at mesonet.agron.iastate.edu (Iowa Mesonet) Date: Sun Oct 19 11:01:07 2008 Subject: IEM Daily Bulletin Message-ID: <200810191601.m9JG13US026447@mesonet.agron.iastate.edu> Iowa Environmental Mesonet Daily Bulletin Data valid for 18 October 2008 > News No news is good news > Yesterday's Daily Feature No feature posted. > NWS Watch/Warning Summary *** Products issued on 18 Oct 2008 Summary +_________ By WFO ____________+ Watches Type US IA | ARX DVN DMX OAX FSD | US Tornado 0 0 | 0 0 0 0 0 | 0 Svr Tstorm 0 0 | 0 0 0 0 0 | 0 Fl Flood 0 0 | 0 0 0 0 0 | N/A ARX = LaCrosse, WI DVN = Davenport, IA DMX = Des Moines, IA OAX = Omaha, NE FSD = Sioux Falls, SD From mesonet at mesonet.agron.iastate.edu Mon Oct 20 11:01:04 2008 From: mesonet at mesonet.agron.iastate.edu (Iowa Mesonet) Date: Mon Oct 20 11:01:08 2008 Subject: IEM Daily Bulletin Message-ID: <200810201601.m9KG14bO030063@mesonet.agron.iastate.edu> Iowa Environmental Mesonet Daily Bulletin Data valid for 19 October 2008 > News +---------------------------------------------- | Title : DCP site data by day | Date : 20 Oct 06:52 AM | Author: Daryl Herzmann | URL : http://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/DCP/site.phtml +---------------------------------------------- This application lists out a DCP site's data by day.
