The National Climatic Data Center has been collecting 1 minute
interval data from the ASOS sites in Iowa since March 2005 and
for Des Moines, Dubuque, Sioux City, and Waterloo since Jan 2000.
They make this data available in monthly text files in an absolutely
hideous text format with little documentation and no quality control.
So after roughly 20 hours of labor, I got as much of this archive
processed and into the IEM data coffers available for you to
graph and download. Caveats galore! Please let me know if you
see any bad data, which there is bound to be.
Sorry if I sound grumpy about this, but the data was brutal to
process and I am suprised that NCDC released this dataset with
so many problems.
So going forward, I will be ingesting months worth of data at a
time as it becomes available the next month. So for exmaple, the
September 1 minute data should become available in early October.

Ideal cooling conditions over Iowa this morning allowed temperatures to drop to just a few degrees short of freezing, which were right around record lows for this date. The sun and increasing southerly winds will help to warm us up by 30 - 35 degrees today with warmer weather expected tomorrow ahead of a cold front for the weekend which will have us flirting with freezing again.
