Some sort of network issue is preventing roughly half of the
SchoolNet8 sites from reporting data to the internet. We are
working to track down the problem and get it fixed.

The featured map is of stage4 rainfall estimates from Sunday over portions of Northeastern Iowa. Delaware County is shown in the middle of the image with rainfall estimates over 3 inches for a good portion of the county. Locations within that area reported in excess of <a href="http://iowa.cocorahs.org/map.phtml?extents=200000%2C4400000%2C710000%2C4900000&zoom=-2&month=10&day=8&year=2007&var=pday&res=640x480&layers%5B%5D=bogus&layers%5B%5D=counties&layers%5B%5D=cities&layers%5B%5D=roads&img.x=498&img.y=180">5 inches</a> thanks to very efficient rain producers <a href="http://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/current/mcview.phtml?prod=comprad&java=script&mode=archive&frames=12&interval=15&year=2007&month=10&day=7&hour=15&minute=0">training</a> over the same area. The result is <a href="http://www.crh.noaa.gov/crnews/display_story.php?wfo=dvn&storyid=10491&source=0">October flooding</a> in cities such as Manchester. A 5 inch daily rainfall event is extremely rare for <i>October</i>, with the last known event reported on <a href="http://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/GIS/apps/coop/plot.phtml?source=qc&var=precip&year=1973&month=10&day=11&sitesearch=mesonet.agron.iastate.edu&q=">11 October 1973</a>.
