The kind folks at IowaHelicopter.com passed along damage survey
photos of two suspected tornados in Marion, Mahaska, and Poweshiek
counties. These photos can be imported into Google Earth. Please
do not retransmit these photos without their consent.

The station has been around since 1986, so it is about time it
was added to the IEM :) Actually, the station was sort of not
online recently, but now it is back and reporting data from the
ISU Horticulture Farm just NE of Ames. Regardless, it is available
on the IEM now.

The fall season begins our transition to much stronger storm systems as the contrast between warm and cold air helps to drive very dynamic systems. The featured image is a map of radar reflectivity from Sunday evening with surface fronts drawn by yours truely. This storm system is in its occluded stage with the low pressure center well behind the warm and cold fronts. Sometimes this formation is called a "T-bone". Another strong system is expected to affect our weather already on Tuesday as our active pattern continues.
