It has an official NWS ID of RBFI4 and makes the 56th site in the Iowa Department of Transportation's network. More details on the site are as follows: Bedford is 3 miles West of Bedford on Hwy 2 in a pretty rural area. It reports visibility, air temp, dew point/humidity, wind speed and direction, precip type and intensity. This site is special in that it has 1 regular surface sensor (sensor 0, WB bridge) and 1 active surface sensor (WB approach). The active sensor's got a piggytail thermistor and a peltier element that flash freezes the water/slush on the sensor to determine its freeze point.
