The May 1 minute interval data from the Iowa AWOS network has been
uploaded to the IEM data coffers. The Iowa DOT collects one minute
interval observations from their network and then kindly provides
us with the one minute archive at the end of the month for easy
public access. This archive goes all the way back to 1995!
I totalled up the number of observations in this archive.

It is hard to not feature the Storm Prediction Center outlook again today. A lid of warm air that suppressed widespread storms in our area yesterday is expected to cool and allow explosive thunderstorm development today. The damaging wind threat looks to be the primary severe weather mode with a chance of a few long duration violent tornadoes and large hail. Please watch the weather closely today.
