The updated <a href="http://drought.unl.edu/dm/monitor.html">US Drought Monitor</a> has been released for this week today.  It is showing a worsening situation in Western Iowa with level D2 (severe) drought now analyzed just across the border in Minnesota.  The "A" on the map indicates that the primary impacts are to agriculture as maturing crops are showing signs of the lack of moisture.  The good news is that there is a good chance of rain today over that area as a cold front will sweep the state this evening.
