Recently the IEM began producing time composites of maximum NEXRAD base reflectivity and the featured map is valid for the UTC day of 17 July (which is 7 PM on the 16th to 7 PM on the 17th). The map quickly shows the areas of the state that completed missed out on the storm event and <a href="http://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/archive/data/2007/07/17/comprad/max_n0r_0z0z_20070717.png">close up</a> view of Iowa shows the areas that probably got hit by hail (purple colors). Two more rounds of storms are in the forecast with hopes that Western Iowa may finally get in on the rain.
