The long advertised storm set for this weekend is expected to bring heavy rainfall and snowfall to Iowa.  One of the important issues when considering impacts of this storm system is the amount of frost in the ground which would prevent rain water from soaking in.  The ISUAG network would indicate temperatures are near freezing at a 4 inch depth, so a possibility exists that some of the rain could soak in.  Heavy rainfall rates would certainly produce considerable run-off regardless of soil temperatures.
