Subject: Story City Storm Report

Good Morning;

We live in the western part of Story City, 2 blocks east of the Heart of
Iowa Coop Elevator, we had a very large part of the huge tree in our
front yard go down in the wind Thursday night between approximatedly
6:30 - 6:45 pm.

We had just finished watching the KCCI news, and were looking out our
west livingroom window, the rain and wind were coming so hard and so
fast the air was just white with rain.  I then heard a very loud
"WHOMPF" sound and a bright flash of lightning.  It did not appear that
the lightning struck the tree, just the force of the wind.  Nobody was
hurt, no vehicles in the way, and no homes damaged, just the big tree.

our home is the brick with green doors.

I have attached several photos of the tree.  I personally photographed
the pics (Dolores Morgart)
